I’m not the kind of person that lives my life in constant worry about germs or that washes my hands 50 times per day. Sure, I’ll hit the soap and water after using the restroom or before meals, but other than that, I live by the philosophy that a little dirt never hurt anyone.

You probably see warnings all of the time that you should be washing your hands. There are times when you should already be doing this without someone having to tell you. You do so after you have gone to the bathroom, and hopefully after you have been handling raw foods like meats and some dirty fruits and vegetables.

However, there are other times when you may want to be sure that you wash your hands, especially if you have children. Think about where things have been, and you may instinctively know when you should be washing up.

You don’t have to wash your hands after each and every thing you touch. Your hands are not always going to be as dirty as you think they are.

You should just take preemptive measures by washing them each and every time you are about to put something into your mouth, or when you are handling something that you are going to give your children to eat. If you wash your hands at these times, you are going to cut out a lot of the guesswork about the cleanliness of your hands when it is most important.
